Our Mission

After years working inside the ISP comparison industry, we saw how affiliate economics often dictated which providers were highlighted. We left to build something different: a platform that shows you every option, ranked by what matters to you – not by who pays us the most.

At ISP Reports, our mission is to empower consumers with accurate, transparent, and comprehensive information about internet service providers. We believe that by providing reliable data and unbiased reviews, we can help you make informed decisions and find the best internet service for your needs.

Our Story

From Industry Insider to Consumer Advocate

Carson spent years as the Product Owner at HighSpeedInternet.com, one of the largest ISP comparison sites in the country. He saw firsthand how the industry works: providers who paid more were frequently given better placement – even when they weren’t the best fit for most households.

The final straw came when he was asked to prioritize higher‑margin partner recommendations over what our data showed was best for the customer. He knew there had to be a better way.

Meanwhile, Wes had spent over two decades building data systems for regulated industries where accuracy isn't optional – it's the law. When Carson shared his frustrations, the solution was obvious: combine insider industry knowledge with bulletproof data practices to create something that actually serves consumers.

ISP Reports was born from a simple belief: you deserve to see every internet option available at your address, with honest information about each one.

What Makes Us Different

Complete availability

You deserve to see every internet option available at your address – not just the providers who work with affiliates.

  • We include national and local providers – whether they pay us or not
  • Address-level results are designed to show what serves your neighborhood, not just your city
  • We avoid inflating lists with inactive providers

Explainable rankings

Our rankings are designed to be transparent and defensible. We prioritize what actually impacts households: coverage, speed, and customer ratings.

  • No pay‑to‑play ordering – ranking inputs are documented
  • Clear definitions for availability, speed metrics, and ratings
  • Update cadence and known limitations are published (so you know what "last updated" means)

Transparent incentives

ISP Reports is an affiliate site—we may earn commissions when you sign up through our links. But we don’t let that influence what we show you or how we rank providers.

  • Partners cannot pay to improve rank, grade, or recommendation placement
  • Sponsored placements are clearly labeled "SPONSORED" and kept separate from ranked lists
  • Pricing and promotions can change – final terms are confirmed with the provider

Editorial & Data Accountability

ISP Reports is built on two things: reliable data and explainable rankings. To keep that work accountable, we’re explicit about who owns the standards behind what you see on the site.

Editorial & Rankings

Carson Ward is responsible for how ISP Reports presents recommendations and rankings to consumers,
including the criteria we use and how we explain it.

  • Owns editorial standards for provider and location pages
  • Defines and maintains ranking criteria (coverage, speed, and customer ratings)
  • Reviews updates that could impact "best / fastest / cheapest" callouts
  • Ensures sponsored placements are clearly labeled and kept separate from ranked lists
  • Partners cannot pay to improve rank, grade, or recommendation placement

Data & Methodology

Wes Ward is responsible for the data pipeline and validation processes behind ISP Reports, including how we source, update, and verify the datasets that power availability and speed reporting.

  • Owns data sourcing, refresh cadence, and validation checks
  • Maintains documentation so definitions and calculations are defensible and consistent
  • Oversees methodology integrity across tools (address lookup, maps, report cards, indices)
  • Supports corrections and disputes by evaluating evidence and updating when warranted
  • Ensures address lookup is used only to retrieve block-level ISP data (not shared or sold)

Our Transparency Pledge

We're an affiliate site – we earn commissions when you sign up through our links. But unlike others, we'll never let that influence what we show you or how we rank providers. Here's our promise:

Complete Listings

We show every ISP available at your address, whether they pay us or not.

Unbiased Rankings

Rankings are based on coverage, speed, and customer rating – never on affiliate payments.

Clear Disclosure

We clearly disclose how we make money, and we clearly label paid sponsorships when they appear.

How We Think About Internet Shopping

Choosing an ISP is a purchasing decision, not a reading exercise. Most people want three things: to know what’s actually available at their address, to compare options quickly, and to trust that the rankings aren’t pay‑to‑play.

ISP Reports is built to deliver that. We rank providers using coverage, speed, and customer ratings – and we clearly label paid sponsorships when they appear.

Below, we break down the most common ways ISP shopping gets distorted online, and exactly how we designed ISP Reports to fix it.

Why Traditional ISP Listings are so Disappointing

Shopping for internet service can be frustrating, and frankly, ISP aggregators don’t really help make it easier. Being run by revenue-hungry companies focused on sales rather than displaying great information, they tend to share the same pervasive issues:

  1. Inaccurate Information:
    • City-Wide Listings: Despite offering a zip search or address search feature, other websites still end up showing you all internet providers in that city.
Ever wondered why other websites simply list ALL the internet providers in your city, without considering who actually provides service in your specific area? They're primarily sales-driven, prioritizing quantity over quality.
Ever asked yourself why other websites request your address only to show you all the providers in your city, regardless of whether they reach your home? The reason is simple: they are sales companies. They don't actually know what's available to you.
    • Outdated Information: These sites often use outdated data, leading to discrepancies between listed providers and those actually offering services.
While other websites may claim accurate and clear information, they fail to live up to that promise.
We all know the frustration of shopping for internet services. Perhaps you've tried searching "What internet is available for me?" or "Internet in my area", only to face outdated or misleading information.
  2. Lack of Transparency:
    • Hidden Local Options: Users are frequently presented with the same large, well-known providers, while smaller, potentially better-suited local options are hidden or entirely omitted.
You enter your zip code, and to no one's surprise, you see the same big juggernauts listed, specifically excluding local providers.
Other websites highlight the same massive internet service providers, leaving smaller, local providers in the shadows.
    • Omission of Details: Important details about service quality, speeds, and user satisfaction are often missing, making it hard for users to make informed decisions.
  3. Sales-Driven Listings:
    • Provider Prioritization: Many websites prioritize providers that pay the most for listings, not those that offer the best service for the user. This skews the information and places sales goals above user needs.
The experience can feel like a labyrinth of unfulfilled promises and seemingly endless calls with sales centers.
    • Promotional Bias: The listings are often biased towards promoting certain providers, regardless of their actual service quality or customer satisfaction.
  4. Generic Information:
    • One-Size-Fits-All: Traditional ISP listings often use a one-size-fits-all approach, failing to account for the unique needs and circumstances of individual users.
    • Missing Personalized Insights: There is a lack of personalized insights that can help users find the best providers based on their specific requirements and location.

How ISP Reports Solves These Issues

Commitment to Transparency

At ISP Reports, transparency is at the core of our mission. We provide clear, accurate, and unbiased information to help consumers make informed decisions.

  1. Data-Driven Accuracy:
    • Reliable Data Sources: We use the most recent data submitted to the FCC, ensuring that the information we provide is up-to-date and accurate.
At ISP Reports, we're a data-focused website using the most recent data from the FCC, offering you a more personalized and accurate snapshot of internet providers in your area.
Unlike these websites, ISP Reports is a data company leveraging the most recent data submitted to the FCC. This approach lets us bring the most accurate information to your doorstep.
    • Personalized Information: Our reports are tailored to your specific address, not just your city, ensuring that you see only the providers that actually serve your home.
  2. Comprehensive Provider Inclusion:
    • Valuing All Providers: We include both large national providers and smaller local providers in our listings, recognizing that sometimes a local provider might offer the best service for your needs.
At ISP Reports, we value all providers equally and recognize that a local provider might be the best choice for you.
    • Objective Rankings: Our rankings are based on data such as the fastest available speed and customer ratings, not on who pays the most for listings.
Unlike most websites that show internet providers, our rankings are objective and data-focused. Instead of just listing the providers that pay the most at the top, we focus on the fastest available speed and customer ratings in your city.
  3. Transparency and Honesty:
    • Detailed Listings: We break down the availability of different speeds and connection types, providing a clear and honest picture of your options. Unlike other sites, we don't just list the fastest provider across the country; we show you the best options available at your specific location.
ISP Reports is built to change that experience. We are different in that we actually break down the availability of different speeds and connection types rather than just listing the fastest one available across the country.
    • Exclusion of Inactive Providers: We do not list providers that are no longer in business, ensuring that our data reflects the current market landscape.
Some competitors might list that they have more providers than us, that's because they include any provider that has ever existed – even if they aren't in business. if they're not active anymore, we don't list them. We want to show you what the landscape really looks like and don't inflate our numbers.
  4. Consumer-Focused Approach:
    • Ease of Use: Our platform is designed with the user in mind. We provide tools and information that are easy to navigate and understand, helping you make confident decisions.
    • Simplified Shopping Experience: We aim to make the process of finding an internet provider as straightforward as possible, reducing the frustration often associated with this task.
