August 20, 2025 1990 copper wire installation mistake by MTA - 1 wire instead of twisted pair copper wire connection limited my DSLspeeds and option for upgrades.Been with MTA since dialup internet. No plans by MTA to remedy the mistake despite the node being 50' away from home (under existing paved road might have something to do with it). Fiber internet in Eaglewood neighborhood is years away per MTA Tech that discovered the single copper wire connection. Bailed on MTA to GCI for internet after that.
September 28, 2024 MTA provides amazing customer service. Everyone from the installation crew and business support are attentive and helpful. The speeds are sufficient. Plan pricing is competitive. I would highly recommend MTA to anyone in Alaska.
February 22, 2024 MTA is a small local telecommunications company that has been in Alaska for 20+ years. They had been the only provider for many rural areas around the Matanuska Valley for years, and still are in many areas. They don't have much in terms of competition, there is only one other reliable company for the Valley. Pricing has always been exorbitant for the most basic of services, only recently have they begun to offer unlimited downloads. The fees charged for every gig over was always a thing to fear. They're a local company for which I'm grateful to have rather than a large corporation, but their pricing is still atrocious for the service.
September 25, 2023 My internet price just about tripled when I moved out of town to a smaller town and the service is worse in the sense that they have limited bandwidth and it makes streaming difficult.
