They take advantage of the fact that they have a monopoly in the area. It is a very horrible situation but there's nothing you can really do, since everyone needs internet in this day and age. They charge $85 for 7Mbps down and 1 Mbps up. Whereas I have friends who live in other areas getting 1 Gbps for even cheaper than my slow speed. It is crazy that companies are allowed to take advantage of customers like this, especially since tax payers already paid for fiber to be installed across the entire country!
