LiveOak Fiber
December 10, 2025 So for the price and speeds it sounded amazing in comparison to everything else around. I had switched to ATT from Cox as they were up and running about 6 months before Live Oak, despite them running their lines in the same week through our neighborhood. ATT was horrible with a couple big outages that left the whole northern part of the county without service for 24+ hours. So when Live Oak finally was ready I switched, their hardware seemed better than what ATT provided, especially since it came with a mesh extender at no extra cost. Then myself and my kids had started noticing issues in our games. I did a bunch of tests on my end, speed tests, trace routes(the path of the data), and latency tests. When I saw issues of the data passing through twelve99.net servers and researching who they were, that is when I realized part of the problem. Just google 'twelve99.net issues', and you will find pages of historical issues with them. When I called into tech support to explain the issues I was having, they mentioned, and explained that Live Oak uses a Carrier-Grade NAT(CGNAT). Basically, they are doing what your router does. Your router will take all the devices and assign them 'local ip addresses' and then will collect and push all the data out, receive the data and sent it to the device that needs it. On your internal network, this normally isn't an issue, but when your provider does this it can cause issues. Because at the Live Oak servers you are sharing the same IP with other people. So they are assigning you a "local ip" in a sense. Games and other things like being able to remote into your network when away do not like this, in fact somethings will just not work. Good news though! They will provide you with a public IP....but it will cost you another $10 a month. So, in comparison to our local ISP choices... Cox - I wouldn't use Cox again, if it was free. So many issues, a hassle to get someone to come out and actually troubleshoot the issues up-stream. Also, every time you call in, you are talking to a call center in the Philippines. ATT - It worked well when it didn't go down. I didn't have any of the issues I do with Live Oak. But only get half the download and even less upload for a little less when you have a military discount applied. With the speed and stability, I'm happy with Live Oak, but with the CGNAT issue, I'm thinking of going back to ATT out of principle. I should be charged $10 because they can't provide public IPs for those who need it. I signed up for a service, never read anything about it being gimped.

Cox Cable
October 04, 2023 We've had issues quite some time with COX internet, some representatives will be fine and others just don't care. About a year ago we had a seperate modem purchased from walmart that we used to connect to the internet for COX and it would always become unstable and crash every hour - half hour. We'd contact support and they would constantly give the same feedback, but nothing ever fixed the issue. We then purchased a different, slightly pricier modem, and it solved the issue for about a week and then the problem occured all over again with no help from support. All the while prices for internet kept going up, we were forced to pay for a subscription to COX's own company modem to have it monthly, on top of the flat fee for internet access. I would not recommened COX to anyone, if they have any other option.
