HughesNet Satellite
August 05, 2026 ### One star only because zero isn’t an option HughesNet provided, without question, the worst internet service and customer service we have ever experienced. We remained customers for seven years—not because we were satisfied, but because we live in a rural area and had no other viable option. The service was never consistently reliable. Streaming a complete movie was nearly impossible. Calls repeatedly dropped, including calls made to HughesNet’s own customer service department because the connection was so unstable. When that happened, they wouldn’t call us back, and we often couldn’t reconnect with them to finish resolving the problem. HughesNet repeatedly claimed we had used all our data, even during periods when we had barely streamed anything and hadn’t managed to watch complete movies. We were told that exceeding the data allowance would only result in slower speeds, but what we experienced wasn’t merely a slowdown—the service would become completely disrupted and practically unusable. Technical support was equally frustrating. Technicians would identify problems or recommend solutions, only for HughesNet to refuse to authorize or implement what its own technicians recommended. We spent years calling, troubleshooting, repeating the same information, and being passed around without receiving a lasting solution. We paid every month for a service that frequently failed to provide even basic, dependable internet access. The moment fiber internet finally became available in our area, we left HughesNet. Since switching, the difference has been unbelievable: reliable service, uninterrupted streaming, stable calls, and none of the constant excuses or mysterious data problems we dealt with before. That alone confirmed that our devices and usage were not the real issue. Seven years with HughesNet gave them more than enough opportunity to provide the service and support we were paying for. They consistently failed at both. I would never recommend HughesNet to anyone. If it appears to be your only option, investigate absolutely every possible alternative before signing up. Being without internet may be less aggravating than paying for internet that repeatedly doesn’t work.

Astound Broadband Cable
March 23, 2026 Astound is not my first choice of an internet provider, but we have no choice other than adding satellite internet to our direct tv service. They remain the only gig “in town†so to speak as we could not switch to another provider even if we wanted to.
Additionally, there are no local stores to go to get customer support I’d say, your router failed. You have to drive at least a half hour depending on where you live.
Finally, there seems to be frequent service interruptions. Sometimes, you can go weeks without the service going down, and others, it can feel like it happens at least once per week. If you’re working from home and need reliable internet access, it’s probably best to invest in a mobile hotspot. Preferably with your own wireless company that is not Astound.
There is nothing Astound-ing about this company.

T-Mobile Home Internet Fixed Wireless
March 22, 2026 I currently have a bundle plan with T-Mobile home 5G internet and my phone line.
I’ve always had a very positive experience with customer service and tech support using T-Mobile.
I’ve rarely lost service and if I did it was due to a local environmental issue such as a tree falling on a power line, otherwise I always have great connection.
The price is incredibly affordable, I only pay around $30 per month for internet.
I’m very happy with my service and hope to only use T-Mobile going forward.

Starlink Satellite
March 17, 2026 Starlink is really the only option we have where we live besides a cell phased internet. We live in the country. We have Ben impressed with the service and though we pay a little more than we like we accept this because we don’t really have other options. We have never had an internet outage and it’s fast enough for our needs for the most part.
