December 06, 2025 While I am pleased overall with our service (mobile, Internet), the price has gone up substantially every year since signing up in 2022. There is no competition in our somewhat isolated area, so I have no bargaining power on the matter. As we are dependent on wireless capabilities for our every day lives, there is nothing to do but pay the bill each month regardless of price increases.

Spectrum Cable
July 11, 2025 I got Spectrum nearly 3 years ago now, when I moved in with my girlfriend who was just using cell hotspots for all of her internet - which was awful, but suited her very limited internet needs. I got lucky that the state of Maine was subsidizing internet for that year, which cut the price down by some $35, enough to get the lowest end internet for free, but I play online video games and stream Youtube or TV very frequently, so I went for a higher speed internet which was - and still is, even without the subsidy - a reasonable enough price.
We haven't had much in the way of instability, and downloads go by quick. The few times we've had outages due to weather, everything gets up and running again very quick, sometimes we'll get an email informing us the internet is fixed even before the power grid is fully repaired. I haven't shopped around overmuch, so I don't know for certain if the prices are better than their competitors, but Spectrum has very much so been a 'set it and forget it' situation for us, which frees us to worry about the other more important things in our lives.
