July 06, 2026 Spectrum is slow, has poor customer service and also has a monopoly in my area. There is no competition. 5G internet service is not available as there is very poor cell signal at my home. Additionally, Verizon began running FiOS to my neighborhood and then stopped. I can only guess because Spectrum holds the cable franchise rights in the town of Glenville and is fighting to hold on to whatever market share they have.

June 05, 2026 I live in an area where there is really only one internet provider- optimum. This has allowed them to keep prices high, as they know we don’t have another option. The internet is very slow, where my computer has difficulty running a zoom meeting with an internet browser window open. This is very problematic given I work at home sometimes. I don’t even live in a remote area (downstate NY) so the poor service doesn’t make sense. When I call for customer service, they just keep trying to get us to upgrade our internet. I have one of the medium level plans, which should be plenty (I don’t run high speed games or complex programming).
