Fidium Fiber
March 21, 2025 Fidium used to be Consolidated Communications, but they rebranded a couple of years ago here in Sacramento. The reliability and speed of the fiber service is incredible. I have experienced one short outage in the 18 months that I've had Fidium, and it was the result of a major storm that knocked power out for most of the city. I get 1G symmetrical (up and down) at all times, and I pay roughly half of what the closest competitor charges for 100 Mbit speeds. It's really a no-brainer. Customer service is fast and easy to get hold of, and the overall vibe of the company is very customer-oriented. All other ISPs should try to copy what Fidium manages to do, lest they be abandoned in favor of a company that honestly knows what it's doing.

February 26, 2023 The only reason I have Xfinity is because it's the "best" option offered in my area. Years ago I used to have them and I hated them so much in Florida. It does seem that they are slightly better in California, however. I would still choose most other companies over them if given the option. I still have promotional pricing so right now I'd say the service almost matches up with what I'm paying for it.

January 16, 2023 I have been with Comcast on and off for years. There aren't enough options in the area so by default we get stuck with them. The speed is adequate for streaming in two rooms whilst working on the laptop. The thing I find most frustrating is that they want you to purchase and use their wifi boxes and routers. Instead, we got our own. Comcast is notorious for awful customer service so by having our own stuff, we don't have to interact with them nearly as much. We have the typical smart devices (phones, Alexa) so not a lot of side power is being used.
