T-Mobile Home Internet Fixed Wireless

November 06, 2025

T-Mobile 5g/Wireless internet can be good but very finicky and requires trial and error. If you do not have direct line of sight to a tower, placing the gateway/modem in the correct spot after dozens of disconnections and reboots was tedious. We live outside of the city where most of the towers are. The one tower we have is about 1 mile away but there are hills and trees interfering with the signal.

I hacked together a solution by placing aluminum foil under the modem to block some signal interference and "catch" the waves better. Without foil or some other parabolic receiver MacGuyver the modem would actually reboot constantly as it failed to hold onto signal.

We have the latest modems, and are generally fine with the speeds, but if I could offer them one suggestion for their next product, it's to have a parabolic antenna as baseline included in the box. Okay, Two suggestions: a better heatsink or heat dissipation mechanism than just two tiny exhaust grills on the lower sides of the modem.

My internet service provider has been stellar with no down time in the last 6 years with the exception of a couple of power outages by the local utility company. Nothing related to my internet provider cause the down time.

Pricing needs to change. There are never any promos for discounts or how to lower your monthly cost. They need to make a more base-level package since I don't have a ton of devices. I dont need 400MBPS.

The internet is usually pretty reliable in our home. However, sometimes when a lot of devices are attempting to use it we struggle to keep up internet speeds. Weather conditions can also impact the quality of service since we are in a more mountainous area. Overall, the internet service is great but the pricing could always be better. Over the last few years the pricing on internet has continued to increase but there aren't many option to switch to.
