They started to offer fiber in the small town i live in, unfortunately it will more than likely not ever be available on my side of the town. Workers I talked to have said that they are not planning on expanding to this side of town for reasons i do not know. I hate being able to see that not even a mile down the road, people are paying the same price i am for speeds x faster which is 20mbps/5mbps and they are getting 1gbps/20mbps for the same price.

I am fortunate that when we moved into our home 5 years ago our service provider was just coming into the area and offered to split the price of laying fiber lines. We are the only home in out neighborhood at the moment that has this service. Since we are in such a rural area internet service can be very hit or miss and neighborhoods that are within walking distance don't have any access to true high-speed internet like we do.

I live in a town where there is only one internet service provider option. I have used Etex telephone Coop for several years. I pay $140 per month for their highest internet package. I very seldom have issues with buffering. I have a very large family and we are always streaming at the same time from a ton of devices and it always works great. I think $140 is a lot, especially with no TV package but it is worth it to not have issues with our internet service.
