Vermont Telephone Company Fiber

VTEL has provided fairly consistent fiber-based high speed broadband to my rural Vermont home for the past 8 years. While the speeds are unrivaled in the area, the increasing costs in excess of $100 per month of service are burdensome and unsustainable. There is no added value for the cost, you simple receive what you pay for. Recently there has been a noticeable increase in outages, with no compensation for downtime. If VTEL did not have a monopoly on broadband internet for rural southern Vermont I would consider changing providers, as the lack of competition helps to drive the high price on Internet service.
