Astound Broadband Cable

January 31, 2026

When I first signed up for RCN/Astound, I was generally satisfied. I felt that it was easy to set up, the pricing was good for the area, and speed was good. After a few years though, I think the service and quality has gone down. The internet would go down at random times or be so slow we had to use our phones for hotspots. I’m currently in the process of moving and needed to speak to a representative. I was on hold for an hour at a time before I had to hang up to take care of something else. When I finally got a hold of someone it was not very helpful. I’m glad that where I’m moving has more internet options because I’ve become very disappointed with RCN/Astound in the last 1.5 years.

Starry Fixed Wireless

June 12, 2025

We are pleased with our service with Starry. Our internet is fast and reliable, and pricing is relatively fair. I really appreciate the features of the mobile app, and that most needed features can be accessed in that manner; including changing network name and passwords. Signup was very easy, and customer service is good. No noticeable lags over our fiber internet at our last apartment.

Starry Fixed Wireless

April 09, 2025

I am very satisfied with the price which is a flat rate of $40/mo and no price increases like with other ISPs I have used. I find Starry's pricing policy to be a rare boon when companies like Comcast will sneakily raise your prices. In terms of the internet service, the speeds are very good. The only issue I have is sometimes the connection will drop for a few minutes, especially during bad weather. Overall I am very satisfied with Starry and it is probably the second best internet I have had after Fios. Fios was faster and more stable but in terms of price Starry is the cheapest internet I have had, so it is hard to complain too much.

Starry Fixed Wireless

January 20, 2025

Before I say anything specific about Starry, I do feel good about having a provider that is part of the solution to monopolistic behavior. I’m fortunate to live in an area where there are many competing service providers (Starry, RCN, Astound, Xfinity, etc.). Therefore, my experience with pricing specifically has been rather positive in that the providers often will lower rates in order to attract or keep customers. One time I saw them advertising a lower rate than I was paying, so I just asked the rep if I could pay the lower rate, and he told me that would be easy to set up. However, this only ever lasts for a year, after which it goes back up to $50. In terms of the service itself, it’s been thoroughly serviceable. Every once in a while it’ll stop working, but turning the router off and on again usually fixes it. Only once did we have to actually call Starry because it wasn’t working, and they were able to diagnose and fix the problem remotely fairly easily. I guess with ISPs, the less you think about them the better. Like people will remember negative experiences, but not so much with the opposite when things just work how they’re supposed to. So in the four years I’ve had Starry, I’ve encountered problems perhaps four times. An average of one issue a year feels pretty solid to me!

AT&T Fixed Wireless

service works great but not in all buildings. I really like how it automatically works abroad. anything less than 5g seems to be almost unusable though, and outages have happened from time to time. Its kind of frustrating when that happens because its hard to tell/
