Verizon Fiber
November 29, 2025 The internet from the Verizon gigabit plan is great for the most part. The speed is consistent on a day to day basis. However, I do notice some spikes in the internet around the early morning time at 5am-6am. Price wise, I wish my plan was cheaper. I am paying close to $100 for only internet. I am locked into a 5 year price guarantee plan which is awesome in my opinion. Overall, I am satisfied with the service, but hopefully it is cheaper in the distant future.

XFINITY Cable
August 29, 2025 They are basically a monopoly around where I live and so not really a choice given for whom to go with or what prices you are willing to pay. They are decent in terms of price I pay $60/month and have good internet speed for streaming multiple things, download and upload speeds are good and do not typically have any issues, also allows for large file downloads or playing video games online without issues. Just did a speed test and got 274.9 Mbps download, 0.09 Mbps upload, and Latency: 15 ms. Also with a VPN i still get good speeds when I turn it on too. Could've gone higher tier plan but I think this exceeds my current needs. They do have more frequent outages to do repairs etc than I would like and it is typically in the morning and I am up and normally work from home during the day, would rather these fixes happen at like 5am so I am not affected by it. Hard to really compare them with other providers since there arent really other choices though.

STARRY Fixed Wireless
July 22, 2025 Starry is a fairly small company, only present in a small handful of cities and with limited availability in those respective cities, but is establishing itself as a good alternative to the most popular and often default internet service providers. I live in a building with 4 different options for service providers so I was able to make an informed decision about which service provider I used, so I was pleased with Starry as a reasonably priced option. I was somewhat unsatisfied that the fine print of my agreement was that my first year was a discounted rate (very common in the internet service industry) but the price is still pretty good for fast speeds and reliable service. My partner and I can both be connected to our remote desktops for work, streaming or watching videos/movies, and taking videos calls with very few hiccups. Only intense weather has caused dropouts in the service but that has happened only twice in two years of using the service.

STARRY Fixed Wireless
June 12, 2025 We are pleased with our service with Starry. Our internet is fast and reliable, and pricing is relatively fair. I really appreciate the features of the mobile app, and that most needed features can be accessed in that manner; including changing network name and passwords. Signup was very easy, and customer service is good. No noticeable lags over our fiber internet at our last apartment.

STARRY Fixed Wireless
January 20, 2025 Before I say anything specific about Starry, I do feel good about having a provider that is part of the solution to monopolistic behavior. I’m fortunate to live in an area where there are many competing service providers (Starry, RCN, Astound, Xfinity, etc.). Therefore, my experience with pricing specifically has been rather positive in that the providers often will lower rates in order to attract or keep customers. One time I saw them advertising a lower rate than I was paying, so I just asked the rep if I could pay the lower rate, and he told me that would be easy to set up. However, this only ever lasts for a year, after which it goes back up to $50. In terms of the service itself, it’s been thoroughly serviceable. Every once in a while it’ll stop working, but turning the router off and on again usually fixes it. Only once did we have to actually call Starry because it wasn’t working, and they were able to diagnose and fix the problem remotely fairly easily. I guess with ISPs, the less you think about them the better. Like people will remember negative experiences, but not so much with the opposite when things just work how they’re supposed to. So in the four years I’ve had Starry, I’ve encountered problems perhaps four times. An average of one issue a year feels pretty solid to me!
