Spectrum Cable

The pricing is outrageous. The speed is unreliable, and the customer service is poor. The deals they offer are lies. Five years ago, our internet speed would have been $30 a month, but now we are paying $80. They also upgraded us without informing us, so we had to pay $115 for a service we did not ask for, nor approve. It was not until we called them and asked to go back to our previous plan, did they acknowledge what they did. There was no way to change the plan online, and we were given the run around by customer service. If this was not the only internet provider in our area, we would have changed providers at that moment.

Spectrum Cable

Spectrum is the only option we have for ISP in our semi-rural location. We are very lucky to have decent speed and a solid connection. I am not a fan of their pricing structure. They offer very good discounts to "new customers" and then jack the rate up on loyal, existing customers. I've found that if you call and actually go through the motions of cancelling, they are willing to add the "new customer" discounts back to your account. I feel like the games aren't necessary - the last time the rate went way up (at an old address), I called and asked for a discount- they said no, so I found that I could get internet from Verizon, just not cable/fiber. I went through the motions of setting Verizon up and when I called to actually cancel Spectrum offered the discount that I'd originally asked for to retain our business. Those discounts have about run out now as well and I'm absolutely dreading having to go through this all again.

Verizon Fixed Wireless

About six months ago, we decided to leave Spectrum and switch to Verizon because the change reduce our cost for home internet service by $90/month while maintaining roughly the same speed. After realizing the salesman was mistaken about the package we signed up for, we contacted Verizon customer service. Verizon recognized the error by their employee, apologized for their inability to provide the speed promised, and offered a loyalty credit, as my family has used Verizon cellular services for over a decade. The loyalty credit took effect, and we have been pleased with Verizon’s customer service. While the internet service itself isn’t quite as fast, the friendly, helpful customer service more than makes up for this. Intermittent issues have arisen with the cellular towers in our area, but my partner and I truly feel valued by the company, as they go above and beyond to make it right by us and retain our loyalty each and every time.

Internet service has been really good, a few outages related to our cabling here at the apartment, but they came and fixed it promptly and has been working perfectly ever since.
