Not in love with Comporium as a company. They are using CGNAT in my area and its preventing our gaming systems from getting a good NAT Type. This results in some devices being unable to play online at all. The disappointing answer when calling tech support was you can have a discounted Static IP for $5 a month. Its already disappointing we are in an area with CGNAT at all because the infrastructure isnt ready for IPv6, but now we are also getting hit with another charge to use our internet as intended? I doubt it costs them $5 a month to give me that IP. Looking into other options.

Unfortunately for residents of York County South Carolina there is a singular option for internet service. Due to some back room dealing years ago the local telecom company Comporium is legally the only ISP in our county unless you want to explore satellite/cellular based providers. Their customer service is lacking and the provided internet is okay at best considering the price. Rates for standard service climb regularly even though there is no improvement in speed. Local residents including myself are frustrated by constant outages. Many times it is due to “planned maintenance” when you check the outage status but these planned outages are never communicated to the end users. I certainly hope that their legislatively backed monopoly ends soon and other higher quality providers can come into the area.

I have had Comporium for years. It seems they have a lock on York County in SC. In all of the years we have had service through them we have had nothing but issues. Everything from outages to slow speed and every thing in between. If there were other affordable options for the speed and quality we need, we would definatley switch providers.
