They used the Feds money to upgrade the urban area with fiber which is great. In the rural areas were stuck with expensive, slow wireless. Technicians blame network staff for problems with a host site getting all the bandwidth while the rest of us cant even run the speed test. Missouri did a great job with the Biden covid money. MO put deadlines on contractors who received the federal money. MO has 1T service in accounts 1.5 miles off the county roads! Surf indicated they are not investing in rural and are actively pursuing selling the wireless or shutting it down within 2 years. Looking at Starlink as the only alternative. Frankly not that more expensive and potential huge increase in speed.

I have been using Surf Internet's 25Mbps service since May 2018. I paid for the modem and installation fee was waived due to paying a year of service. A Shaw technician came to install the modem. Service is very stable, 99+% of the time. I experience service dropout once or twice a year, the longest is around 2 hours. But I know this is Shaw's fault. I use VoIP service from another company. So far in 6+ years I only have to call the technical staff once, only to find out I need to wait for a full minute before restarting the router.

Previously my dreadful experience with Telus/Shaw was the 45+min wait time before I can speak to their customer rep.

The service is shifty. Continued drops and videos freeze while playing them. And forget trying to get ahold of customer service. I buried my own lines.. And didn't get any compensation...

Surf Internet is great. Love it!
